How to Merge Multiple Drives Together in Windows 11

Sep 12, 2025

Do you have a collection of smaller hard drives on your Windows 11, but you would like to combine them into a single, larger drive for easier storage management? No need to worry, as this guide will walk you through a simple method for merging drives using Disk Management.

Merge Different Partitions on the Same Disk Using Disk Management

If the drives you want to merge are partitions of the same physical disk, you can use the built-in Disk Management tool to extend a volume.

Step 1. Open Disk Management

Press Win + X to open the Power User menu and select Disk Management.

Step 2. Locate & Back up

Identify the partitions you want to merge (e.g., C: and E:).

Merging drives often involves data erasing, so back up any important files on the partition you want to remove (e.g., E:).

Step 3. Delete the Volume

  • Right-click on the partition you want to remove and select Delete Volume.
  • Then confirm the action.
  • The partition will be turned into Unallocate after deleting.

Step 4. Extend the Volume

Right-click on the partition you want to extend (e.g., C:) and select Extend Volume, then complete the Extend Volume Wizard that pops up.

Conclusion

Merging drives in Windows 11 can simplify file management and maximize your available storage. By using this built-in Windows 11 tool, you can efficiently consolidate your drives into a single, larger, and easier-to-manage volume.
