IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique identifier assigned to every device connected to a network. It helps devices communicate with each other over the internet or a local network, and could be helpful when you are troubleshooting network issues, setting up remote connections, or configuring router settings. This guide explains several easy methods to help you quickly find your Local and Public IP address in Windows 11.
Windows Terminal is a powerful and efficient terminal application for command-line tools and users of shells such as Command Prompt, PowerShell, and WSL. This method is especially useful for users who need quick access to network configuration details.
Press Windows + S and type Terminal in the search box, then click Open to open the app.

In the main interface, type the following command and press Enter:
ipconfig

Locate the IPv4 Address under your active network adapter.

The method above shows your local IP address. To view your public IP address, follow these steps:

Assigned by your router and used within your local network.
Assigned by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and visible to websites and external services.
Windows 11 provides multiple ways to view your IP address, including using Command Prompt, Windows Terminal or PowerShell. Additionally, you can find your public IP address using any web browser. Knowing how to quickly find your IP address can help you better manage and secure your network connections.
