Printing or sharing your current Wi-Fi password as a QR (Quick Response) code can be far more convenient than typing or reading a long, complex key. Now you can not only connect to the network by scanning Wi-Fi QR codes on mobile phones, but also on computers. Windows 11 includes a built-in way to generate such a code so that any smartphone or tablet can scan it and connect instantly. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you turn your saved Wi-Fi password into a scannable QR code.
1. Press Windows + I to launch Settings.
2. In the left pane, click Network & internet and go to Wi-Fi.
3. Select your current Wi-Fi network. And click the Show button beside the Wi-Fi network password.
Now you can scan the QR code with your phone to connect to the network (You don’t need any third-party apps to scan the Wi-Fi QR code because the built-in camera app on your mobile or tablet can do that easily. Installing third-party apps for scanning Wi-Fi QR codes can pose a security risk for your device. We’ll take an iPhone as a case to explain.
1. Open the Camera app on iPhone.
2. Point the camera at the QR code.
3. Tap the prompt Join…Network to connect the network.
A QR code is a type of barcode that can be scanned with a smartphone camera. It is more convenient and secure for you to share Wi-Fi passwords when you use a QR code instead of sharing passwords with others in Windows 11.
