The serial number of your PC is a unique identifier assigned by the manufacturer. It’s commonly required for warranty claims, technical support, device registration, or asset management. Fortunately, you can retrieve it using several built-in methods in Windows—no need to open your computer or find the original box.
This is the quickest and most reliable method, working on most desktops and laptops.
Press Win + S and type Command Prompt, click Run as administrator.
Type the following command and press Enter:
wmic bios get serialnumber
View your PC’s serial number displayed on the screen.

PowerShell provides another straightforward way to access Windows system information.
Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin).
Type the following command and press Enter:
Get-WmiObject win32_bios | Select SerialNumber
View the serial number listed on the screen.

Finding your PC’s serial number is simple and can be done in seconds using built-in Windows tools like Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell. If those methods don’t work, checking the physical label will almost always provide the information you need.
