Sep 30, 2025

Windows includes a handy Widgets feature that gives you quick access to personalized information such as weather, news, stock updates, sports scores and more without cluttering your desktop. Whether you want to customize your widget board to show relevant content or clear out the clutter, it is easy to add and remove widgets. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about adding, removing and managing widgets on Windows 11.

How to Add Widgets in Windows 11

Adding new widgets is a simple process that lets you expand the functionality of your board.

Step 1. Open Widgets

  • The most common way to access them is to click the Widgets icon on the taskbar if you have enabled this feature in Settings.
  • Alternatively, press Windows + W on your keyboard to bring it up quickly.

Step 2. Open the Widget Picker

At the top right corner of the widget board, click the + (Add widgets) button.

Step 3. Add Widgets

A list of available widgets will appear, including Weather, Calendar, Watchlist, Sports, Photos, and many more from the Microsoft Store.

Select the widget you want and click the Pin button of it to add the widget to your board.

Step 4. Manage Widgets (optional)

The widget will instantly appear on your Widgets Board. You can then click and drag any widget to move it around, or resize it by clicking the three-dot menu of it.

How to Remove Widgets in Windows 11

If your Widgets Board feels crowded or you no longer need a specific widget, removing it is just as easy.

  • To do so, you can locate the widget you want to remove.
  • Click the More options menu() in the upper-right corner of the specific widget.
  • From the drop-down menu, select Unpin widget.
  • The widget will be instantly removed from your board.

Conclusion

Widgets in Windows are a convenient way to stay updated without opening multiple apps or browser tabs. By customizing which widgets you add and remove, you can keep your board clean and filled only with the information that matters most to you.
