Windows 11 introduces a variety of new features that make everyday tasks easier, and one of the most useful additions is the ability to extract text directly from images using the Photos app. This feature is powered by OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology, which detects and converts text inside pictures, screenshots, or scanned documents into editable text.
Whether you want to copy text from a screenshot, save information from a signboard photo, or quickly pull details from a scanned paper, the Photos app makes it simple without needing extra software. Here is how you can achieve this.
Locate the image file containing the text on your PC. Right-click it and select Open with > Photos.
In the Photos app, wait for the image to load. Then a small Scan text button will appear at the bottom. Click on the button.
Once the text is detected, select all text or specific parts you need and copy them by pressing Ctrl + C on your keyboard.
Alternatively, right-click the selected text and select Copy text from the drop-down menu.
Open a text editor, like Notepad or Word, and paste the copied text there. Edit, save, or share it as needed.
The Photos app in Windows 11 makes it easy to extract text from images. With just a couple of clicks, you can turn pictures into editable text.
