WiseCleaner Think Tank
Encounter difficult computer problems?
All about maintenance and optimization of your Windows System.

Stop downloading "PC Boosters" or ad-ridden benchmarking suites. If your Windows 11 rig feels sluggish, the bottleneck is likely your drive—and you already have the tools to prove it. Windows has powerful, low-level utilities baked in that provide cleaner data than most third-party "optimizers."
Forget synthetic graphs for a second; you need to see how your drive breathes under pressure. Hit Ctrl + Shift + Esc and head to the Performance tab.
The Metric That Matters: Look at Active Time, not just throughput. If that graph spikes to 100% while you’re doing basic tasks, your controller is choking.
The Stress Test: Copy a 10GB+ file to the drive and watch the Write speed. Does it stay consistent, or does it tank after five seconds? A massive drop usually points to exhausted SLC cache or thermal throttling.
If you want raw numbers without the UI overhead, the Windows System Assessment Tool (winsat) is the gold standard. It’s the closest thing to a "pro" benchmark hidden in your OS.
1. Right-click the Start button and open Command Prompt (Admin).
2. Type the following and hit Enter:
winsat disk -drive c (Replace c with your target drive letter).
The Bottom Line: Ignore the wall of text and find Random 16.0 Read. This value dictates how snappy your OS feels and how fast apps launch. If you’re on an NVMe drive and seeing double-digit numbers, your configuration is broken—check your BIOS settings or drivers immediately.
Benchmarking a dying drive is a great way to lose your data forever. Before you push for peak performance, check the hardware's pulse.
1. Right-click Start and open Terminal (Admin).
2. Run: Get-PhysicalDisk
